What is
Snapchat?
Snap is a social media flat for instant messaging and
multimedia sharing with your friends. It was released in 2011. The unique
feature about this social media platform is that pictures, GIFs, videos that
you share with your friends disappears after a certain amount of time that does
not last longer than a few seconds.
How to
create Snap?
When you are inside the app, just tap on the Camera button.
Now you can click a selfie or press and hold the click button to make a video.
You can tap on the icon with the 2 circular arrows to switch between the front
camera and the rear camera. Another way to switch between the cameras is to
double tap on the screen.
Generally, when you create a snap video, it has a time span
for 10 seconds. If you want to create a snap video of more than 10 seconds then
all you need to do is tap and hold the click icon even after 10 seconds and you
will another snap being created right away on its own. This is a perfect way to
create multiple snaps with continuation.
You can also trim and edit your snaps using the scissor icon.
You can either cut is or split the snap video into two. The great thing about
it that any effect you apply to one part of the snap will be automatically
applied to the other part as well. Isn’t that just so amazing!
All your snaps are saved under the Snaps and All tabs. You
can access them anytime you want and you can send any of the snaps again to any
other person.
What is a
Snapchat Streak?
Now the reason the app has the ‘Snap-Chat’ is because of the
fact that you can actually chat by sending snaps. It is not mandatory to send
text to make it count as a chat. Yes that’s how cool it is! A Snapchat Streak
is a series of snaps that you send in a stipulated amount of timeline so as to get
it highlighted. A Snapchat Streak also popularly known as Snapstreak is the series of snaps (not chats) that you and your
friend share for 3 days. The time gap between any 2 snaps should not exceed 24
hours. And that’s how a snap streak is created. Once it is created it will be
visible in the chat list with the respective person. The loner you communicate
with a person on snapchat steak the longer it becomes.
To make things more fun and jolly, Snapchat actually rewards
the people with special emojis who have maintained their Snapchat Streak for a
prescribed number of days. For example you get ‘100’ emoji if you have
maintained your streak for 100 days. Sometimes you get a Mountain emoji if you
have managed to keep your streak going for an extremely long time. Many people
put in a lot of effort to keep their streaks alive and in continuum. Trust me
there is nothing worse that losing a streak that you had managed to keep alive
for a very long time. Also, many teens attach sentimental values to snaps and
the snapchat streak they are a part of. A longer streak signifies a much
stronger friendship. If your streak breaks, it is the same as if your
friendship is ruined. This is the reason why Snapchat Streaks are considered as
measure of Snapchat’s success. This is a smart substitute for the lack of the
followers/ friends concept that is followed in other social media platforms
such as Facebook, Instagram.
The number beside the fire symbol signifies the number of
days you have been keeping the streak active. For example if you have 10 next
to the fire symbol that means your Snapchat Streak has been active for 10
straight days. If at any point you start seeing a Hourglass symbol that means
your Snapchat Streak is on the verge of getting over i.e. it may expire soon if
you do not send a snap soon enough.
Please Note that the snaps you
send with Memories or Spectacles content to other Snap chatters does not
count as a part your Snapchat Streak.
To get your Snapchat Streak in a much faster way, the best
technique would be to keep sending as many snaps as you can in 24 hour period
and then do the same for 3 consecutive days. This will not only help you in
getting a stronger Snapchat Streak but also help you in getting more point on
the Snapchat app. Each snap retrieves one point. So what are you waiting for?
Go and snap away and create your own streak.
