Aren't we all looking for an escape? An escape from this never ending drama called life. Shakespeare said that life is a stage and we all are actors in it. But who are we acting for? Whom do we seek to impress? Do we do everything to gain appreciation and laurels?
Day after day all we hope for is the eternal solace that will give us the inner peace we all desire. We adopt many practices, daily rituals that will help us in our endeavours in that journey.
We all strive to excel in our careers, follow our dreams, secure that 6 figure salary, buy that expensive mansion with an ocean view, get married and have children but why? Who's setting all these predefined timelines in our mind ?
Why are we so caught up in the process, trying so hard and assiduously to maintain that rapport with the ever so present and judgemental society that we forget to live, we forget to love.
Whatever happened to the art of meaningful conversation. We prefer to break up over chats and text messages but fear to face the person up front and confront out deep rooted feelings.
Why can't we just keep it simple? If someone hurts us, why can't we just tell them that it hurts? Why do we react and not act?
It's true that whatever we think right now is not an original thought but something that our minds have believed to be true and real because of decades of conditioning and preaching. Or should I say that everything is a copy of a copy of a copy.
Where did it all begin, that's the real question?

Well written! 💯 But just to be open to discussion, I read somewhere, it takes 21 days to make a habit, and depending on the severity of task and type of person it may get to 66-300 days as well. This thing, habit of comparison, and living not to fulfil needs of your own, but to do that to prove yourself to society, lack of concentration to any little thing is what we are practicing since we started going to school. We have become PRO in it. To me, the real question is how does such a thing ends? What will stop this unstoppable "perspective" that we have got ingrained inside all of us?
ReplyDeleteSomething to think about I guess! :)
